Project Automata

This project is an exciting activity that provides a platform for students at the institution level to challenge their skills and creativity in engineering & design to build their own moving mechanical toys, & to showcase their talents in an exhibition where their work will be displayed in the S'pore Science Center.

This competition is inspired by a collection of over 30 different original automata, which is a kind of mechanical sculpture, from Cabaret Mechanical Theatre- a highly acclaimed traveling exhibition from UK.

This project encourages young people to pursue problem solving & creative thinking. It aims to inspire & reward people for innovation excellence. Their innovation may in turn, transform into commercial products which earns the winners not only business opportunities & royalties, but also self esteem & self confidence in heir future undertakings.

ITE ASHRAE student members Ming Hao, Ming Guang, Daniel Koo, Gary Ho & Boon Beng participated in this competition with the objective of transforming what they have learned in school to the real model.

They embarked the project theme "Weather The Storm" and the model signified the courage of the sailors to brave the stormy seas but to reach the destination, their home.
