Anti-Drug Model Making Competition
In conjunction with the Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign 2003, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB ) organized a Model-Making Competition for students so that they can display their creative talents, as well as to take a stand against drugs through the creation of the models and signature albums.
With the encouragement from the lecturer Mr. Derrick Cheong, six students from two different departments namely Building Services Technology Dept and Building Drafting Dept collaborated to participate in this meaningful competition event organized by the Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore .
Worked within limited budget, the students overcame all the obstacles to build a 900cm x 900cm model by utilizing mostly recycled material such as waste paper, cardboard, string and etc. Without neglecting the second project, the students also embarked on constructing the signature album .
The hard work from the students received well recognition from the judging committee of the competition. The panel of judges included lecturers from Lasalle as well as about 30 CNB staff announced in Jan 2004 that Iskandar, Gabriel , Meme, Wei Qiang, Jun Yong and Qingyi from ITE ASHRAE gained the championship from other competitors like Raffles Junior College, Nanyang Fine Arts, Temasek Polytechnic and so on .Quoted from the humble leader from the group,Iskandar " I guess my members and myself have worked hard enough to clinch the championship, nevertheless, we shall learn from others so that we can improve on for our next design project."
