National Youth Achievement Award 2007 (NYAA 2007)
NYAA is an exciting personal challenge to young people. It is a balanced program with activities designed to equip youth with personal qualities & skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities & their world. This year, a total of 10 ITE ASHRAE students- Woo Wee Loon, Ham Hui Guo, Oh Aik Hong, Goh Yao Xing, Yeo Zong Ping, Roger Chan Wei Xiong, Chang Chee Meng, John Oh Jin Hao, Chen Ting Ling & Muhd Faizan B Fandi- proudly received the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold from President S.R.Nathan on 4 th Oct 2007

Project Automata
This project is an exciting activity that provides a platform for students at the institution level to challenge their skills and creativity in engineering & design to build their own moving mechanical toys, & to showcase their talents in an exhibition where their work will be displayed in the S'pore Science Center.
This competition is inspired by a collection of over 30 different original automata, which is a kind of mechanical sculpture, from Cabaret Mechanical Theatre- a highly acclaimed traveling exhibition from UK.

Citibank-YMCA Youth For Cause Project 2006
Citibank-YMCA Youth For Cause is essentially a social entrepreneurship program that provides seed funding to youths to develop creative ideas to promote a social cause of their choice, and raise funds for charitable organizations. Last year, ASHRAE Student Branch ITE College East had successfully utilized the granted seed funding of $1600 to conduct the activities.

ITE Project Showcased to the Duke of Edinburgh
All this time, it has been receiving attention from establishments whose beneficiaries have gained useful maintenance skills, but on 17 Mar 06, it caught the eye of neither ordinary citizens nor visitors. Instead, Simply Cool , a teaching aid developed by lecturers and students from ASHRAE Student Branch ITE College East received the attention of a royal guest - His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Regional Conference & Community Service in Hong Kong
Every year, ASHRAE chapters will take turn to host the conference & this year, ASHRAE Hong Kong is the host.
Students from ITE-ASHRAE student branch had the great opportunity not only to learn and attend the technical seminars and talks by overseas professionals but also the chance to work with the ASHRAE Hong Kong Student branch to arrange a community service program for the Spore students to interact and play games with the elderly in a centre situated at Tsz Wan Shan, Kowloon.

Champions of the NKF
In line with our efforts to equip our youths with a holistic education, the Champions of the NKF programme was launched in 1997 by former Minister for Education, RAdm Teo Chee Hean, to inculcate strong moral values in children and teach them essential life skills. Extending its theme of inculcating essential skills, the programme this year 2004,focuses on Social Entrepreneurship and Money Sense.

Singapore Red Cross Photography Competition captures the best of Singaporeans in print
The Singapore Red Cross launched a nationwide photography competition in October 2003. Targeted at young people and photography enthusiasts, the Competition themed " people Helping People", is aimed at showcasing the various ways the public can help the less fortunate and at the same time highlighting the plight of the less fortunate amongst us. The competition is part of the larger campaign aimed at encouraging more Singaporeans to do what they do best in serving humanity.

After 1 month of intensive training in the field of air- conditioning units and servicing at ITE EAST BEDOK, eight students from MCDS ( Ministry of Community Development and Sports ) went to the Moral Home at No 1 Jalan Bilal to service 36 units of air-con units.

Anti-Drug Abuse Model Making Competition In conjunction with the Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign 2003, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB ) organized a Model-Making Competition for students so that they can display their creative talents, as well as to take a stand against drugs through the creation of the models and signature albums.

ITE-ASHRAE VISIT TO M.0.E.
On 10th May 2002, ITE-ASHRAE organised its
technical visit to the Ministry of Education(MOE) at 1 Buona
Vista Drive. The Estate and Management team from the Ministry
guided our students at the air-conditioning plant building.
The Water Cooled Centrifugal system of MOE includes cooling
towers, condenser water pumps, chilled water pumps, air handling
units, fan coil units and centrifugal chillers.

CAREERS IN THE AIR-CONDITIONING INDUSTRY
On 9th March 2002 (Saturday) , ITE-ASHRAE had
an opportunity to attend a technical talk by Dr Jeremy Chia.
It was held at Suntec Convention Hall at Meeting Room 302.
Titled Careers in the Air-conditioning Industry,
Dr Chia shared his experience in the job segment ranging from
air-conditioning to ventilation. Dr Chia also explained that
the career segments in the air-conditioning industry encompassed
building construction, consultancy, research & development,
project management, sales and marketing, service and repair
etc. In conclusion, the expert reiterated the ever challenging
task involved in the air-conditioning industry and its importance
in its provision for human comfort and health. It was indeed
a very enriching experience for the ITE-ASHRAE members.

VISIT TO OLD FOLK HOME
Beside being active in technical aspect of
activities, ITE-ASHRAE student branch members are also active
in community service. On February 15 2002, ITE-ASHRAE joined
effort with MEDD Club of ITE Tampines to visit Moral Seniors
Activity Centre. The members gave away oranges to the residents
at Old Folks. They entertained the residents of the Old Folks
home with a rendition of a few Karaoke songs. The residents
seemed to enjoy themselves. ITE-ASHRAE members did too.

VISIT TO TEMASEK POLYTECHNIC
On 9th Feb 2002 (Saturday), ITE-ASHRAE members
had a meeting with TP-ASHRAE members at Temasek Polytechnic
Both Student Branch committee members discussed their programmes,
activities and problems. One of the main issues discussed
was the ASHRAE camp. The camps objectives are: to make
friends, to create bonding among participants and to promote
ASHRAE. The discussion also dealt on a study trip to University
of Chulalongkong some time towards the end of the year. The
discussion proved to be an interesting and an enriching experience
for Student Branch Committee members.

TP-ASHRAE (TEMASEK POLYTEHNIC-ASHRAE) VISIT
On 16th Jan 2002, the TP-ASHRAE made their
first ever visit to ITE-ASHRAE. TP-ASHRAE Student Branch shared
their precious experience and activities in their organization.
The student branch President, Mr. Khairil also urged the students
to join the ITE-ASHRAE student branch for the benefits they
are able to enjoy like accessing to monthly ASHRAE Journal,
interacting and networking with members of the sponsoring
ASHRAE chapter, participate in technical papers and interacting
with students with the same career interest. The students
from the air-con dept had the opportunity to obtain the rich
experience of TP-ASHRAE Student Branch.

ITE-ASHRAE FIRST ORGANISATION MEETING
Mr Foo, the Section Head of ITE EAST BEDOK
Air-Conditioning department reiterated that organizing a student
branch can be a very rewarding experience. Mr Derrick Cheong
(ITE-ASHRAE Student Branch Advisor) highlighted the benefits
to students such as to participate in technical tours, learn
from guest speakers ,to interact and network with other students
with the same career interests. During this meeting, Mr Foo,
Mr Derrick Cheong and students brainstormed ideas to formulate
and plan activities for the year 2002. Students also completed
student membership applications at this meeting.
