ASHRAE Society Region XIII Chapter Regional Conference Technical Seminar
"Green Buildings : Developments and Technologies"

ASHRAE Singapore Chapter is pleased to announce the hosting of ASHRAE Region XIII Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) 2010 at the Holiday Inn Atrium Hotel on 27 - 28 August 2010 .

We are honoured to have the ASHRAE Society President 2010-2011, Ms Lynn Bellenger attending the event.

The CRC 2010 will commence with a half-day technical seminar with the theme "Green Buildings: Developments and Technologies" on 27 August 2010. The seminar aims to address issues arising from the climate change which has now become the most serious threat ever to mankind.

The seminar will also provide a platform for the sharing and transfer of knowledge and information between the speakers and participants. The invited speakers are:

Prof Lee Siew Eang on The Design, Development and Performance of a Retrofitted Solar powered Zero Energy Building

Sustainable and Affordable Solutions for the Built Environment

In line with the mission of the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) to propel Singapore’s building and construction industry towards environmental sustainability, SGBC is pleased to present the inaugural SGBC Green Building Conference 2010 to be held from 13 – 16 September 2010 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

GBC is also honored to achieve the Established Member status with the World Green Building Council (World GBC) and also winning the hosting rights to the WorldGBC International Congress 2010 which is held from 13 – 14 September 2010 alongside the inaugural SGBC Green Building Conference.

ASHRAE Singapore Chapter (ASC) supports the Emerson Cup 2010 India and South East Asia.

ASC as part of Society’s commitment to sustainability efforts recognizes and supports the initiative by Emerson Climate Technology for promoting the Green and Sustainable concepts of the HVACR Industry which is the major contributor for the Global warming

Call for entries

The Emerson Cup is an annual event instituted by Emerson Climate Technologies to recognize outstanding designs and innovations in the HVAC&R industry.

This year’s competition highlights a big change—it now covers a wider spectrum of HVAC&R projects, involving consultants, architects, building and institution owners, institutional engineers, as well as Engineering and Architecture students. The award categories include the following: New Building, Special Application, Retail and Refrigeration, Retrofit, and Students.

Last day to accept the project entries is July 15, 2010. Winners will be awarded at the Emerson Cup ceremony at the Green Building Congress 2010 in Chennai, India on October 7-9, 2010.

Grant for Energy Efficient Technologies (GREET)
National Environment Agency (NEA) has recently launched a new incentive scheme to help companies defray the cost of purchasing energy efficient technologies and equipment. Known as Grant for Energy Efficient Technologies (GREET), the $22 million fund has been earmarked to help companies achieve energy savings in the next five years. It will co-fund up to 50% of the qualifying costs of energy efficient equipment or technologies, or up to $2 million per project, whichever is lower. This will help companies to improve on the Return On Investment (ROI) on their energy efficient projects.

Companies that wish to apply for GREET funding can go to www.e2singapore.gov.sg/greet.html for details of the scheme and the application form.
